Don’t Skip Breakfast – Eat Every Day

The lame excuses of many persons for not eating breakfast are “I do not have time to eat breakfast” or “I am just not starving in the morning” but unfortunately this is an alarming sign because it is the most important meal of the day. Breakfast does more than just refuel your body for the day ahead; it can have positive effects on your mood, temper, energy level, and even benefit with weight loss.

Upon wake up in the morning, your body has literally been deprived for of nutrition for hours. What does this mean? For one, your metabolism is not at its peak because starvation mode reduces bodily functions to keep the energy stores essential for existence. This can cause a wide range of difficulties, such as poor mood, fatigue, laziness, and difficulty concentrating. Many studies have proven that children who eat breakfast do better in school, while children who avoid the morning meal score lower on standardized tests and have more developmental problems.

You may think that skipping a meal can benefit you touch your weight loss goal line, but the veracity is that people who eat breakfast lose more weight and are more effective at retaining a healthy weight than those who skip. In fact, eating a nourishing and healthy breakfast can help you stay on the path all day and most breakfast consumers consume less total calories each day than breakfast skippers. Not eating in the morning can, in fact, raise your spirits to binge eating later in the day because you are trying to compensate for the long hours of hunger!

If you extend the amount of time between dinner and your next meal of the day, it is only natural that you end up consuming more than you should. The starvation pangs and the thought of food all morning will only ground you to gorge at lunch, consuming extra calories that can lead to fatness and other health difficulties.

If you cannot stomach the idea of food upon waking, wait a little while before intake. Eat foods that will provide you energy but are not so heavy that they create you feel sick. Peanut butter on toast, an egg, nuts, or a small piece of cheese are abundant sources of protein to kick start your energy; add a little fruit to make up for the meal. In a rush? A fruit and yogurt smoothie or drink and protein shake can boost or increase your metabolism on the go.

If you at present eat breakfast each day, credit to you! If not, why not give it a shot? Wake a few minutes earlier in the morning to let extra time to consume at home, or get ready a simple breakfast the night before to yield to work or school. You might just be surprised at the difference a little morning energy can make!
